Training kids to snitch is the real indoctrination
I honestly cannot deal with this new scheme from the Federal Department of Education. Instead of shutting down, they’re getting a pile of new funding to launch this “Patriot Watch” program where kids are encouraged to spy on their own families. If a student overhears anything “unpatriotic” at home and reports it using the Patriot Watch app (which, by the way, comes preloaded on every Trump Tablet™ they hand out), the kid gets rewarded - merit badges, front-row seats at rallies, and the ultimate prize: a shiny “Junior Patriot” certificate. It’s like DARE all over again, but instead of warning us about drugs, now it’s about training kids to turn in their parents for whatever the government decides is “unpatriotic.” Let’s be real, knowing how kids are, most of them are going to line up for those badges and certificates - kids love nothing more than showing off and getting one over on someone, especially if there’s a prize involved. It’s not even subtle. This is Trump Youth vibes, straight up: loyalty points for snitching on your own family, like Boy Scouts but with more informant energy. Meanwhile, the same politicians who never stop screaming about “woke indoctrination” in schools are now fine with kids acting as little junior informants for groups like the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Foundation. It’s all starting to feel less like American democracy and more like a deleted scene from The Handmaid’s Tale. Never thought I’d look back fondly on the days when the worst thing a school program did was make us wear a red ribbon for DARE. I want off this ride.
