Performance politics won’t save our rights

Newsom’s latest move just isn’t landing with me. Sure, he’s out here on Twitter trying to roast Trump by copying his whole social media vibe, but that’s just empty performance, not actual leadership. People are acting like his public records request is some kind of game-changer, but it’s literally just paperwork - any politician can file something like a FOIA request. I don’t get why we’re supposed to celebrate when our rights are on the line, just because Newsom cracks some jokes or tries to out-troll Trump online. That’s not a real win, and it’s definitely not the bold action people think it is.
