Project 2025 wants to ban reality itself
Internet censorship and these new anti-porn laws are honestly just wild to me, because who actually gets to decide what even counts as “pornography”? Like, at what point does something cross that line? Is a long kiss in a movie about to get someone flagged? Are old National Geographic magazines, with a photo of a topless villager, now considered obscene? Does a steamy audiobook get axed because someone blushes? We’re seeing red states in the US banning books like Anne Frank’s diary from high school libraries just for mentioning that a teenager had feelings, and even basic medical textbooks are getting called “obscene” if they dare explain anatomy or sex. I swear, it’s like any information that challenges the “official” beliefs, or even just tries to educate people, is suddenly perverted. And then there’s Project 2025 - this new conservative policy blueprint that’s pushing things into total parody territory. They want to slap the “pornographic” label on the existence of trans people, drag queens, and basically anyone who doesn’t fit their mold, and call anyone who supports them a “predator.” They’re talking about actual prison time for librarians or teachers who let kids see the “wrong” book, and pushing to criminalize anyone who “distributes” what they decide is porn - which, apparently, is just about anything these days. I’m not even exaggerating: a wink, a Marvin Gaye song, brushing someone’s hair behind their ear, two dudes in a hot tub, or even giving a seductive look to a microwave could get you in trouble if the wrong person is writing the rules. It’s honestly both hilarious and terrifying when you realize how slippery these definitions are, and how fast the line moves depending on who’s in charge. Makes me want to just slap a “for kids!” sticker on literally everything and call it a day.
