Power hoarding blocks real representation again

Obstruction of Congress absolutely blows my mind - the fact that the Speaker of the House, just one person backed by their party, can flat-out block a newly elected representative from being sworn in, purely for political reasons. This isn’t some ceremonial hiccup, either. If you’re not sworn in, you literally can’t do the job your district sent you to do: you can’t access your office, you have no government funding, you can’t vote, nothing. People act like it’s just some tradition, but it’s the key to every tool a member of Congress needs - and if you lose even a few weeks, that’s a real chunk of your term gone, like 5% just erased before you can even get started. I love seeing folks like Rep. Raúl Grijalva and that new congresswoman (the one who went hard on IHIP and threw out that awesome line in Spanish) actually fighting back against this garbage. We need more of that kind of fire, not more of this “it’s fine because the other side is evil” nonsense. Step back for a second and it’s the same power play as when a president blocks the release of evidence about himself. It’s always about keeping power, not about helping people, and honestly, I’m just so sick of seeing democracy twisted like this. If voters picked someone, one party’s leader shouldn’t get to override that just because they can.
