Rigged justice keeps crushing the little guy
Systemic injustice in America is basically written into law at this point. The rich and powerful get to make the rules, break those same rules, and then stroll away with a golden parachute, while the rest of us get hammered if we even dare to point out the obvious. Take the guy who leaked billionaire tax returns - all he did was try to show the country how the ultra-wealthy dodge paying taxes that fund schools, roads, stuff we actually need. For that, he gets five years in prison. Five years! Meanwhile, I’ve seen major drug traffickers and actual murderers get less time, or even a pardon, as long as they have the right connections or cash. Pastor Robert Morris, who literally raped kids, got only six months. But whistleblowers? Years in prison, because they "threaten democracy" by exposing how the system’s rigged. And let’s talk about Trump for a second. The guy is a convicted felon, but he’s still suing the IRS - an agency he used to control as president - for billions. On top of that, the Supreme Court just ruled that the president can’t be held criminally liable for breaking laws, not just while in office but afterwards too. So if you’re rich and powerful, you’re above the law. But if you’re homeless and swipe $100 to eat, you’ll get a decade in prison, no hesitation. It’s wild how different this is from other places. In Finland, you can literally call the tax office and request anyone’s tax info, no problem - transparency is normal. Here, if you expose a billionaire’s tax games, you get compared to the people who stormed the Capitol on January 6th. Judge Ana Reyes actually said that at sentencing, calling it “an attack on our democracy.” But the real threat is the system itself, rigged by billionaires who buy politicians and judges to keep things running smooth for themselves. And somehow, regular people still cheer it on, convinced they’ll be rich someday too, even when most are drowning in debt. It’s like we’re conditioned to worship billionaires and punish anyone who tries to show us the truth. Even trying to help whistleblowers is impossible. GoFundMe won’t let you raise money for someone who exposed the rich, but right-wing murderers or racists can pull in a million dollars in a week, no problem. Our priorities are so twisted it makes me sick. We tax the poor, bow to billionaires, and pretend “democracy” means something while money calls all the shots. If you try to show what’s really happening, the system stomps you flat. Sometimes it feels like the law is just a shield for the insiders and a hammer for everyone else. Fuck everything, man.
